Feingold & Kohl Are NOT "Heroic"

Reading the letter from Ann Wittman in the November 11 edition of the Lakeland Times, praising Wisconsin's senators for what she calls their "heroic" votes in support of the Climate Stewardship Act, I have to wonder what her criteria are for the term "heroic."

On Veterans Day, one would think that heroic acts would call to mind selfless sacrifices made by our veterans, sacrificing one's own life or shedding blood in defense of America.  Simply casting a vote in the Senate falls somewhat short of earning the right to be called "heroic."

The premise of the misguided legislation referenced in her letter is that American manufacturers are the cause of global warming.  The legislation sought to impose even more restrictive regulations on American businesses, and it's supporters fell back to using the worn-out tactic of "doing it for the children" in a mindless attempt to tug at the heartstrings, as well as the wallets, of voters.  The legislation would have done nothing to curb the pollution from plants in China, India, Singapore, or any of the other countries where you have to wear masks to breathe outdoors.  If you want to clean up global pollution, go where the real pollution is.

In an attempt to legetimize her arguments, the author references a secret report from an unnamed international organization, and an extremely leftist internet site.  I would suspect her secret report was from the same group who put forth the UN's Agenda 21, which we know in Wisconsin as Smart Growth.  Just another attempt by the global community to punish America for being successful.  The sad part is that we have United States Senators who will go along with this on-going veiled attempt at the subjugation of America to the will of the international community.

The same "scientists" who are warning us about the global warming controversy are the same voices who were warning us of the impending ice age in the 70's.  This planet's temperature goes up and goes down, and no puny acts of Man will change that.  The eruption of a single volcano emits more particulate matter into the atmosphere than all of man's industrial inventions.  Oceanic plankton emit more greenhouse gasses than all of mankind.  Solar flares and other activity on the sun do more to influence Earth's climate than all the planet's inhabitants combined.

To think that the insignificant acts of Man have more power to change the Earth than the forces of nature is pretty arrogant.  And to think that simply signing a piece of paper in Washington will change that is even more arrogant.

Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold are politicians.  They don't give a hoot about the environment or your kids.  They care about getting your vote and your money.  They care about their own power and influence.  They care about being able to tell you how to live your life.  There's nothing "heroic" about it.
