Omniscient Government Officials

Aren't we lucky to be living in Wisconsin, a state with elected leaders who are so omniscient we barely have to think for ourselves any more.

If you live or work in a few lucky towns, the town board already knows how best to advertise your business and how big your house and the property upon which it sits should be.  We have an attorney general who knows smoking is bad for us and any explosive device, such as a bullet, can be used by a terrorist to kill people.  Our DNR has determined the best use for our forests and waterways, even if we mere mortals have trouble understanding these rules.

The Democrats in our state Senate know we are not responsible enough to be entrusted to carry concealed weapons, lest we all start shooting one another.  Even our U.S. Senators know we are all corrupt, and cannot be trusted to give our money to political causes we believe in 60 days before an election, no matter what the Constitution says.

Come to think of it, our omniscient leaders have done so much of the heavy thinking for all of us over the years we ordinary peons have little more to do than to simply be quiet and follow the rules they have worked so diligently to craft for us.  Our unions know how much we should be paid for our labors, and how strenuously we should work each day.

We have a whole litany of agencies, staffed by even more omniscient bureaucrats,  whose job it is to watch out for us, be it how much the price of gasoline must be raised before it is sold to us, or reviewing the applications of dead immigrants to visit our country and issuing them approvals 6 months after they die flying planes into buildings.

Of course, I am being facetious here.  The reason America has become such a wonderful place to live is the Freedoms granted to us by God and ensured us by our Constitution, not the rules and regulations fostered upon us by our government.

Our government taking away our Freedoms will not lead to more Liberty for All.  Whether it be Russ Feingold and his crusade to limit our freedom of speech with his political campaign regulations, or James Doyle using our tax money to fund his ambitions for ascension to the governor's office under the guise of acting as our attorney general, the old phrase of "I'm from the government, and I'm here to help you" is alive and well in Wisconsin.  And it's still just as much a lie as it always has been.
