Can’t Happen In America – Can It?

At it’s height, the Holy Roman Empire governed half of the
known world. Egyptian Pharaohs once
ruled a vast empire, as did the Chinese, the Mayans, and the Mongols. Over time, all these once-great
civilizations collapsed, relegated to the pages of history. More recently, the great powers of Portugal,
Spain and Great Britain all lost their global spheres of influence.
The 20th century saw the United States of America
become a global superpower. Twice in
the last century it was the USA that rescued Europe from totalitarian
dictatorships. Over the last 50 years
American ingenuity and creativity have produced goods and services that have
benefited people the world over.
The United States of America was founded as a unique
experiment wherein the People were to govern themselves. Our founding documents describe Rights
endowed by the Creator, not bestowed by man.
We, the People, have granted our governors limited powers to govern,
recognizing the fallibility of men to govern themselves without restraint.
James Madison once said that “a people who mean to be
their own governors must arm themselves with the power knowledge gives. A
popular government without popular information or the means of acquiring it is
but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy or perhaps both.”
I fear this grand experiment in Liberty may now be in its
last glorious days. Not because the
foundation upon which this country was built was poor, but because We, the
People, have allowed our governors to chip away at that foundation, until it is
no longer able to function effectively under the weight of it’s own bureaucracy.
Unbeknownst to our Founders, they left a flaw in
our Constitution, a fatal flaw that has been used to craft a document that
threatens America’s very sovereignty.
The Constitution declares that “This Constitution, and the laws of the United
States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or
which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the
supreme law of the land….”
That one small section about treaties has been
used to usurp the legitimate Constitutional sovereignty of America itself.
Years ago, our court systems found that treaties
between the United States and various Indian Tribes allowed the Tribes to keep
their sovereign status, rendering them dependent domestic entities. In essence, they are foreign nation that
exist within the borders of the United States of America.
But these treaties pale in comparison to the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP). According to their
own website:
The Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America (SPP) was launched in March of 2005 as a trilateral effort to increase security and enhance prosperity among the United States, Canada and Mexico through greater cooperation and information sharing.
The SPP provides the framework to ensure that North America is the safest and best place to live and do business. It includes ambitious security and prosperity programs. It energizes other aspects of our cooperative relations, such as the protection of our environment, our food supply, and our public health.
The SPP has been characterized as the framework
for a North American Union. One of the
SPP’s first projects was laying out a multi-lane superhighway system running
from San Luis Potosi, Mexico, through San Antonio, Kansas City, and the heart
of the United States, to Winnipeg, Canada.
(click
here for map) Unlike the interstate
highway system, this superhighway will be owned and operated by private entities,
with few controls on its international traffic. Cargo shipped into San Luis Potosi will be able to travel all the
way to Winnipeg without inspection. A company
called Cintra Concesiones de
Infraestructuras de Transport, S.A., a Spanish investment consortium
with ties to the Juan Carlos ruling family of Spain, was granted the right to
operate this superhighway and collect the tolls on it for 50 years.
Already we are seeing reports
that 37 Mexican trucking firms have received approval from the U.S. Department
of Transportation to allow their long-hail trucks to run the U.S. interstate
system, beginning September 1.
The latest, and, so far, the most egregious usurpation of
American sovereignty, known as the “North American Plan For Avian & Pandemic Influenza” came
during the SPP’s August meeting in Canada.
Disguised as a method for a cooperative approach to fighting avian flu, their
latest agreement suspends the Constitution “in times of national emergency or
pandemic.”
The Plan recognizes and builds upon the core principles of the
International Partnership on Avian and Pandemic Influenza (International
Partnership), the standards and guidelines of the World Organization for Animal
Health (OI E), the World Health Organization (WHO )—including the International
Health Regulations (IH Rs) as well as the rules and provisions of the World
Trade Organization (WTO)—and the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).
It also considers the role of the United Nations Food and
Agriculture Organization (FAO) in coordinating global strategies for the
control and eradication of highly pathogenic avian influenza, as well as the
role of the United Nations (UN) System Influenza Coordinator in ensuring
cooperation and coordination within the UN system on initiatives to address the
avian influenza epidemic and threat of a human pandemic.
For those of you who don’t speak bureaucratese, allow me to summarize that. If there is an outbreak of avian flu, the United States will be subjugated to the rule of the United Nations. UN forces will have the authority to do whatever they determine they need to do to control the outbreak – including a de facto imposition of martial law.
I’m not one to buy into conspiracy
theories. But when I read through the
documents the SPP posts on it’s own website, the benevolent bureaucratese in
which the documents are written scares me. The “read between the lines” language the SPP uses on it’s Facts vs Myths page doesn’t actually deny
any of the allegations made by the conspiracy theorists. It becomes a case of “methinks thou doth
protest too much.”
I’ve listened to too many politicians tell me
one thing when the reality is completely different. I’ve learned to distrust the reassuring promises made by my
elected officials. Lying politicians
have taught me to parse every word and every paragraph of any statement made by
those officials. When facts don’t match
the rhetoric, I get suspicious.
Legend has it that emperor Nero fiddled while
Rome burned. I fear we, the People of
the United States, have had our heads in the sand for too long. Too few of us pay attention to the actions
of our elected officials - until it’s too late.
Our Constitution is and has been under assault
for years – from the very people who swore an oath to preserve and protect
it. From our monetary system to our tax
code, from the thought police to the direct infringement of our free speech and
other first amendment rights, We, the People, have allowed our governors to get
away with imposing unconstitutional laws upon us all. We obsess over the sexual perversions of our politicians, while
we ignore their assaults on our Liberties.
The framework is in place for a North American
Union, subjugating the United States unto itself. It’s being sold to us as a method for ensuring our safety and
prosperity. After all, who could
possibly argue against increased security or prosperity?
Just remember the warning from Benjamin
Franklin: “Any society
that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve
neither and lose both.”
The choice is still yours – for now.
